Updated October 2026
BC’s next income assistance payment is Wednesday, October 21, 2026, and it is your money for November. After that come November 18 (for December) and December 16 (for January), according to the BC government’s payment dates page.
Disability assistance uses the same schedule. Every remaining date in 2026 and 2027 falls on a Wednesday, and the full list is below with the month each payment covers.
BC income and disability assistance payment dates, 2026 and 2027
BC pays income assistance and disability assistance on the same day each month. Fifteen payments remain between October 2026 and December 2027. Each one covers the following month, so the December 22, 2027 payment is your January 2028 money. The ministry has published every one of these dates.

Why BC pays assistance in the month before
Each BC payment is support for the next calendar month. The ministry lists every date as “for” the following month, so the October 21 deposit is your November money. That puts it in your account before the 1st, when rent and most bills are due. It also means the money has to last until the next Wednesday payment.
The gap between payments is not always a month. From October 21 to November 18 is 28 days. From December 16 to January 20 is 35 days, the longest stretch this winter. January 20 to February 24 is also 35 days.
Three more 35-day gaps come later in 2027: May 19 to June 23, July 21 to August 25, and October 20 to November 24. All the others are 28 days. We counted these from the ministry’s published dates.
What to do if your BC assistance payment is late
If your payment hasn’t arrived on the payment date, check your bank first. Then call the ministry toll free at 1-866-866-0800, visit a local office, or use My Self Serve. The ministry’s policy manual sets out how lost cheques and missing deposits get replaced.
Check your bank and My Self Serve
Confirm nothing is pending before you call.
Call 1-866-866-0800 or visit a local office
Tell staff which payment is missing and how you get paid.
Staff start a bank trace for a missing deposit
The bank has 10 business days to answer the trace.
Ask about a faster replacement
In extenuating circumstances, with bank proof, a replacement may be issued 2 business days after Cheque Issue Day.
The faster replacement for a missing deposit is for extenuating circumstances, so explain your situation. Bring a bank document that shows the deposit never landed.
For a lost or stolen cheque, the ministry won’t issue a replacement until 2 business days after Cheque Issue Day. If the cheque was mailed, the wait is 2 business days after the expected delivery date. The wait can be waived for hardship. Report a theft to police and sign declaration form HR0024. A cheque that was already endorsed is not replaced.
These cheque rules took effect November 26, 2015, and the manual page was last updated February 27, 2025.
Holiday notes for BC payment dates
No BC assistance date in this schedule falls on a statutory holiday or a bank closure day. The payment made in December arrives on December 16, more than a week before Christmas. The Payments Canada closures on November 11, December 25 and December 28, 2026 do not land on any BC payment date.
- Remembrance Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is a BC statutory holiday. The next payment is a week later, on November 18.
- Christmas Day, Friday, December 25 and Monday, December 28 are bank closure days. Boxing Day is not a BC stat, but banks still close on December 28 because December 26 is a Saturday.
- Family Day, Monday, February 15, 2027 and Good Friday, March 26, 2027 are BC stats. The February 24 and March 24 payments are not affected.
Banks do no clearing from Friday, December 25 to Monday, December 28. A cheque or transfer from someone else in that window can take longer to arrive. Payments Canada hasn’t posted its 2027 closure dates yet. For employer paydays around the holidays, see when you get paid on a stat holiday.
Short before payment day?
Start with the options that cost nothing. Ask your landlord or the biller for a few days, then ask your ministry worker about a crisis supplement. A no-fee bank overdraft comes next. A wage advance or small loan should come last, because it costs money and has to be repaid from your next payment.
- Ask the landlord or biller. Tell them your next payment date. Many will hold a payment for a few days if you ask before it is due.
- Ask about a crisis supplement. Call 1-866-866-0800 or your local office and ask whether you qualify for help with an urgent need.
- Use a no-fee overdraft if you have one. Check the terms with your bank first, and avoid overdrafts that charge a fee each time.
- Consider a wage advance as a last step. NotchUp offers wage advances in BC; check whether you qualify. An advance is a loan, so borrow only what your next payment can cover.

Frequently asked questions
When is the next BC income assistance payment?
The next BC income assistance payment is Wednesday, October 21, 2026, and it covers November. The payments after that are November 18, 2026 for December and December 16, 2026 for January 2027. The BC government publishes the full schedule, and every remaining date through December 2027 is a Wednesday.
Is BC disability assistance paid on the same day as income assistance?
Yes. BC issues income assistance and disability assistance on one shared monthly schedule. If you receive disability assistance, your next payment is also October 21, 2026, for November. The same 15 dates in the table above apply to both programs through December 22, 2027, which is the payment for January 2028.
Why does my BC payment come before the month starts?
Each payment is support for the month ahead. The ministry lists the October 21 payment as “for November”, so the money is in your account before rent is due on the 1st. The trade-off is a long wait to the next deposit. December 16 to January 20 is 35 days, so plan the December payment to last five weeks.
What if my BC income assistance cheque is lost or stolen?
Call the ministry at 1-866-866-0800 or visit a local office. Under ministry policy, a lost or stolen cheque isn’t replaced until 2 business days after Cheque Issue Day, or after the expected delivery date. That wait can be waived for hardship. Report a theft to police and sign declaration form HR0024. A cheque that was already endorsed is not replaced.
Can I get a loan while on BC disability assistance?
Some lenders accept disability assistance as income, so ask each one before you apply. A wage advance is a loan, so try free options first, like asking your landlord or your worker about a crisis supplement. If you do borrow, keep the amount small enough that your next payment can repay it.
