Plan a layoff or leave budget around deposit dates
See a six-month benefit deposit timeline, entered expenses and the gap when temporary benefits end.
A worked example
Temporary benefits should not be treated as a year-round salary. In this fictional example, four $600 weekly deposits with 10% withheld produce $2,160 in October. After $2,100 in entered costs, $60 remains. Once those deposits end, the same costs produce a $2,100 monthly gap unless another income source starts.
Fictional amounts, not someone’s financial information. Opening the example recalculates it using current rules. The result shows its assumptions and source dates.

How to use the worksheet
Use confirmed amounts, first and last deposit dates and the actual withholding rate. Known net deposits can be entered directly. Do not assume an eligibility estimate is an approved payment schedule.
Keep each person’s employment salary separate from benefits. The worksheet uses actual benefit dates, but employment income is a monthly average.
Review the six-month timeline and add groceries, utilities, transport, childcare, debt, irregular bills and savings. Remaining money is not a complete affordability verdict. Extend the budget month to inspect a later period.
Start with the facts you know. A missing date, jurisdiction or expense can change the result. Keep estimates labelled as estimates, and use the source link to check the rule before making a decision. If a figure seems wrong, use the support page to describe the issue with fictional amounts.
